Again, another cryptic and deep poem, this time about dreams in their general entirety. This one is more easier to understand as we get glimpses of what the stanzas refer to for each dream aspect.
Whenever we see something that inspires us, or how have developed experience over something (good or bad), we eventually create a dream regarding that, and although the poem tells us to not make a dream so ghastly, we always go big with them.
The new world with old airs could be talking about how the dreams we have are made or experienced. Everything would feel like a new chapter in your life when you try to reach that dream, but once you reach a certain point, it may seem like everything is staying constant or feeling familiar to what you did before your dream's establishment. Then the downsides to having a dream gets shown: If we are too mindful of what we are doing, or if we judge ourselves too harshly, then the dream will end up being reduced to a mere chore.
We can't avoid struggles to avoid reaching our dreams, because there will always be problems. What matters is how we will handle getting there, whether it is experience, knowledge or our ability to adapt through the toughest situations. All of these things are the harsh truth on wanting to make a dream real.
Then the doubt of dreaming occurs, making us think what are we getting out of from doing the deed. Then the author talks about multiple reasonings that can keep one from following through their dreams, such as thinking about what if they'll regret it long term, and people dragging them down after finally reaching it, and from the specific use of "they", it will mostly be the loved ones doing the damage, which makes the pain all the more worse.
The author then talks about some of the naivety of some dreamers through themself, about wanting to achieve the dreams among everything else without having to put in real effort to make it happen. But it is not that easy, which leads us to the perspective about dreams not being worth the risk, from all the work that needs to be put in to the possible regret that might come out of it.
Even after the author acknowledges the burden of dealing with dreams, they still keep dreaming anyway with the hope of something good to happen, even if the odds may seem against them. And then the author encourages us to pursue our own dreams, even after all the things we have read through in the entire poem, which gives us the ultimatum of the poem: We will never know what will happen unless we try.
It is better to have a goal in life than to live with no motive at all. It is worth facing the struggles just to see yourself become better, even if it may not look like you have changed much. It is worth dreaming to make something happen for yourself. It won't be an easy task to accomplish, but the important thing is to come to terms with reality. There somethings we can or can not do, but as long as we hold that truth close to us or push forward with the belief of us having the ability to reach our dreams, then the pain from the journey would hurt less.
Overall, this was another deep, but enjoyable poem to read through. It's ironic, the writing here was a bit more simpler, but yet it made me have a lot to think over.
